Ban all smuggled food not just toxic milk The government has dealt with melamine tainted milk and milk products from China. Why not ban all smuggled food products? This evil of smuggling bad food from other countries should have been faced by the government a long time ago. Harm from bad food can come from any smuggled, unrecorded and untested product. Years ago, there were dieting pills for women laced with shabu. In 2006, we had formaldehyde in Chinese food products. Why can't the appropriate branches of government always be on their toes. They are now acting on melamine tainted milk products from Red China because the Chinese themselves reported the deaths of their own babies who drank the poisoned milk. Government inaction on smuggled goods—not just food products but everything, like oil and gasoline, motorcycles and cars—is killing our country. It's just like the inaction of the government on the MILF problem. The founders of that rebel organization of Islamic Moros turned its back on Chairman Nur Misari's Moro National Liberation Front after the latter sensibly agreed to cut a peace deal with the government. If the police and the military had acted on time, the MILF would not have thousands of fighters now and be able to raid towns and provinces, kill innocent civilians, burn houses and steal carabaos and kill policemen and government officers and soldiers. If government were doing its job against smuggled products, our agriculture and industry would have been strong and not half-dead. Bart O. Palos Airport Road Pasay City
